Affiliation?

Does being Trans automatically affiliate you with a political party?  I don’t think so, and from the emails I get, neither do many of you.  So why don’t the so-called TG groups get it?

Recently I’ve received a number of emails from crossdressers and transsexuals across the country, wondering why certain TG groups automatically assume they belong to a certain political party, just because they are TG.  My usual answer is ‘lack of common sense”.  You see, most gender organizations hold their meetings or conventions in larger cities, which are generally politically liberal.  Not a problem with that, right?

Except… that shapes their thinking to the belief that ALL TG’s are liberal in views and belong to a certain organized political party.  Wrong.  While these people often accuse others of narrow-minded thinking, they are actually the ones who are sometimes narrow minded.

Case In Point #1: One reader asked me why the Chicago Be-All convention was promoting keynote speakers that had not only worked on getting President Obama elected, but the Be-All website itself seemed to them to be celebrating this fact in promoting them. The Be-All organizers might have been assuming that all potential attendees were thrilled that the new president was their choice, too. The problem was, he wasn’t the reader’s choice, and so she decided not to attend that particular convention.

Case In Point #2: Another reader wrote me to say that she received a donation request from a major TG non-profit group in the mail.  Unfortunately, she stated, that request began celebrating the fact that Obama was president and now things were looking up!  Once again, that wasn’t the reader’s choice for the presidential office and the non-profits request for a donation promptly ended up in the wastebasket!

I told both of these readers what I’ll tell you.  Most of the leaders of these groups and conventions pride themselves on being open minded, but forget one important fact.  They aren’t.  Matter of fact, I think they're self-centered and take a great leap of assumption.  They assume that all of you have the same viewpoints on everything thing across the board, that they do.

Maybe they should get out of their own shells once in awhile and listen to whom they claim they represent.  I’ve traveled across the U.S., speaking at various TG conventions and meeting many people.  And one of the first things I learned is TG’s are split on their political affiliation, just as the rest of the country is.  I learned that a long time ago and that’s why we don’t preach politics here at TG LIFE and I tell our columnists that also.

I’m an independent and I don’t want to know your politics - that’s an infringement on your privacy unless you vocalize them yourself.  Let’s hope that some of these TG leaders, of supposedly knowledgeable TG organizations, soon figure out that this is a diverse country with diverse political opinions.  All of us are not alike and our opinions vary – especially on politics.

FYI:

I’ve also received a few notes from readers saying that our newest columnist, Aphrodite is penning articles they consider risqué.  Personally, I enjoy frank talk about sex and I think her articles are just fine.  But I invite you to be the judge for yourself right HERE.

The problem with many organized TG groups or organizations is that they are excellent targets for sophisticated political manipulation and directing... So the "group think" of collective individual members will often reflect the applied influence on the group leaders.

In the recent presidential election many TGs likely campaigned or visibly identified with Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton...  Other than more war, more police-state control, more corporate monopoly, more billions for Wall Street ...what actual positive social "change" resulted from the given support???

Hi Gina! Excellent article as always! I love reading what you and Brianna write.

My own opinion is that you are right and I agree with you, being Trans does not mandate nor command your affiliation to any political party nor to any religion at all.

To each Trans sister, her own choices, her own personal wisdom and all rewards thereof.

It is quite obvious and also factually true that certain choices may not seem to make any intelligent and well-informed sense to any human being who is of the gender "Trans".

However each and every person can only do the best of what they are equipped with, to do the so-called "best" ergo there will always be people whom I might say, for lack of factual information, lack of critical thinking, intelligence and culture will be gathering affiliations who have "Not" their best personal interests at heart at all.

It happens everyday, every year, everywhere...

Hey everybody's got to learn sometime and to each their own season of coming to terms with that.

    Thank you for sharing!
